a day at the beach

Monday was beautiful, so we went to Raglan for lunch, to soak up some rays and a swim.To my surprise I found some Pohutukawa still out in bloom! Crazy considering there were only two official days left of summer!
Although, this summer has not been a normal NZ one.

Maybe I should move to the sunniest place on earth.
Where is that?

Orange, Red and Pink

Lastest Macaroon trial: Orange flavour
THEY'RE NEAR TO PERFECT!!!
Sunset tonight. Looks like tomorrow will be beautiful.
Colours so beautiful I can't imagine.
We died Karsha's hair red, put her in Trelise Cooper,
and wandered around my section.
She's a total babe.
Kind of like Poison Ivy.
I love Batman.

the results of a struggle

Once again I picked up my Canon AF 35mm, this time to document a friends 21st. But failed epically! Turns out the batteries weren't completing the circuit. So after some frustrated grumbling and wasting a few frames on floors and walls, I shoved a paperclip in there and these photos are the result! Some of my adventures caught on film.
I should also add that the Auto Focus does not actually work. Haha.

Burning hot sun at Raglan.

A snap Karsha took of me at Hamilton Lake.
This van in Raglan had my initials on the side. There's an O behind my hand :]

My nephew!! Love.

mmmm macaroons

Lately I have been totally obsessed with macaroons.
The colours The flavours. The texture.
And so I have endeavored to make some myself!

The first attempt was not overly successful. They looked like little snails whose shells had slid all over the place, and the ganache wasn't attempted (lack of ingredients) but with practice I'm happy to say they are getting much much better! The first batch was lemon with strawberry centers and the second batch was peppermint!

Attempt #1
Attempt #2
Attempt #3

The last batch were strawberry flavoured, and the ganache was soooooo delicious, there was heaps left over so we decided to make Hundreds and Thousands biscuits!

My mission is to make them perfectly.
I'll let you know when that happens.
